Words to my mother

I came across an old receipt today...dated 7/6/24... and just like every other day, I thought of you. Scribbled on the back was a note to you that I share with world because I am not the only one who feels this way and grieving is not linear.
'My world darkened the day you took your last breath. So much knowledge and advice and love was lost. I come visit you every year on this day and I am always humbled. I was lucky to have you as long as I did. Your absence has made me stronger, but what I wouldn't give to have 5 more minutes with you. I am growing and you would be so proud. I do my best to honor your life every day by being my most authentic self. I just think of all the magic this world misses out on because you're gone.'
